The Room & Flat: Hello there, I'm Kate! Are you looking for a really great place to live? I am sadly having to leave my excellent flatshare at the end of April to start a new job in Basel, so my two (yes two!) rooms will be available.

Availability: 29 April 2026 (Open-ended contract, rent currently fixed)

Layout: 2nd floor with small lift. We have 95m2 total, of which there are 2 rooms for you (18+12m2), 2 rooms for Tobias, 1 kitchen, 1 toilet, 1 bathroom (shower in bath unit), storage room in the basement, and shared laundry facilities. Maybe you just want one room and not two (see below), that’s also possible. You get your own sink unit in the bathroom as well (sink, cupboard, drawers). There are also two small balconies, one on the front of the building, and one at the back next to the kitchen. Sadly no parking space, but it's usually possible to get one on the street outside (requires a paid permit)

Roommate: You'll be sharing with Tobias, the cleanest and loveliest housemate I have ever had (and there's been dozens). Originally from Germany, he's a busy professional with lots of travel for work and leisure, but he's also fabulous company when he's around. Tobias enjoys sport (he's a keen gym goer and ginger shot maker), all kinds of music, festivals and a good night out, art and museums, all kinds of conversation, good wine, good beer, and good company. He's laid back but gets things done, and is a very proactive problem-solver who is always looking to make life better. Occasionally his family dog Lola (a sweet silly medium sized mutt, originally a street dog from Greece, photo attached!) comes to visit us for a couple of weeks at a time, so you can also spoil her and walk her if you're up for it. His single drawback is that he watches the football, but perhaps that's an advantage for you ...?

Cost

• Rent: 1745 CHF/month (plus small nebenkosten: electricity about 30CHF, house insurance 12CHF). If you just want one room (18m2) rather than both (18+12m2), this will be 1200CHF/month
• Internet: 26 CHF/month (this can be adjusted as it's on a rolling contract)
• Furniture: None included, but I could be open to negotiation if you want to take some of my furniture. Some shared kitchen things are available (crockery, cutlery, pans, microwave etc.)

Location

• Transport: 15 min to HB with tram lines 2 and 3 just outside the door, 45 min to UZH/ETH Main Campus, 35 min to Oerlikon
• Shops: Coop (4 min walk in two different directions), Migros (5 min walk), Turkish supermarket (2 mins), Denner (30 secs), lots of useful things like pharmacies, bars and restaurants within 5 mins walk. It's a great neighbourhood and a bit lively on the weekend, but not loud or annoying

Who are you? Good company, able to chat about all sorts, hopefully vegan or veggie, clean and respectful, open to a drink or shared meal in the evening occasionally. Looking to stay for the longer term (no less than 1 year). Doesn't matter where you're from, Tobias has loads of international and housesharing experience, and is a native German and fluent English speaker (he's also learning Italian!)
